Breaking Open, my six-week course in applied mindfulness, kicks off this Saturday.
It’s accurate but inadequate to say I’m excited about it… I’m feeling so much more.
Though I’ve been teaching mindfulness meditation for years, in both community and corporate environments, this course feels different. Not only because it’s been designed to meet the needs of this particular moment, but because there is so much need right now. Violence, hate, illness, injustice, burnout, fatigue, cynicism, apathy, helplessness… We are suffering deeply in so many ways.
And yet I believe this simple, ancient practice of training ourselves to see clearly, to separate story from reality, to make more conscious and skillful choices—and the community we create around it—can make a profound difference.
You can learn more about Breaking Open here. You can register here. Registration is on a sliding scale, no one will be turned away for lack of funds and all proceeds will be donated to the Loveland Foundation and the AAPI Community Fund.
And if you’re interested in a sneak peek, click here to see the workbook I’m creating to support the practitioners who are taking on this work at this critical time. It’s a working draft (which is pretty much how I describe everything I do or make), and I’m tentatively planning to offer the “final” version on my website for those who prefer an independent study approach.
This is the last you’ll hear about Breaking Open in this space until we open up the next round for registration, likely this summer. In the next issue of The Lead we’ll get back to focusing on transformational leadership—see below for stray thoughts of that nature.
In the meantime, thank you everyone who has registered, shared or otherwise supported Breaking Open becoming a reality. I can’t tell you what it means to me.
