How we (don't) grow leaders
Leadership development doesn't happen on a slide.
Leadership development doesn't happen in a workshop.
Leadership development doesn't come naturally with experience.
Leadership development doesn't end when you reach the C-suite.
We grow as leaders when we are growing as people.
Have you ever met a great leader with zero self-awareness?
Has a leader ever inspired you without a shred of emotional intelligence?
Can you think of an effective leader who believed their way was the only right way—and was never willing to evolve it?
In BCW's Leading Above the Line leadership development program, we spend the first 6 of our 12 weeks focused on getting to know ourselves, especially the old stories that served us well in the past but are now holding us back.
At first, leaders are surprised that we don't get to our team conflict and feedback modules until week 9. But then, when they finally get there, they understand.
By week 9, they are different. They are open. They are ready.
Applications for our upcoming cohort were due yesterday, and they are still flooding in. People are ready. They know the world has changed and they are committed to showing up differently.
How are you helping them do that?
Say it with me:
Leadership begins within.
Leadership begins within.
Leadership begins within.
