I find it validating and less isolating to hear (read) someone call out that "usual ways of working aren’t working so well anymore". In working with individuals and teams to support both performance and sustainability, it is observable that "business-as-usual leadership" is generating a drag effect on talented people while some maintain the view that it is all working as intended. Honest conversations can be tough but future health of teams and organizations will require some courageous leadership, motivated intrinsically, to care and advocate for the authentic success of each other. How do we incentivize that? How do we avoid "leadership theatre" that is recycling declining leadership models but needs to move forward to its next act?
