In the context of:
thinking creatively...
solving complex problems...
exceeding expectations...
nurturing potential...
building trust...
perfectionism is death.
——
Who here has been raised, taught, trained, rewarded and/or promoted for perfectionism?
What is your relationship to it now?
If you’re a perfectionist (or a recovering one), can you see how striving for perfection limits innovation?
How insisting on “the right way” of doing things leaves no room for better ways to emerge?
How holding others to your own standards of perfection can actually stunt their progress?
And why doing so is the opposite of inclusion?
I’m not saying you shouldn’t have high standards of excellence.
I am saying that trying to be perfect is hindering your excellence.
