Meditations on an insurrection
Written during the events of January 6, 2021
The deeper a dysfunction goes,
the more profoundly things will need to break
in order to root it out.
We are sick.
Our disease is racism
infecting us all
hiding in plain sight
behind a patriotic fairy tale.
May today’s insurrection serve
to further awaken this country
from its own myth.
May we break open
so we can begin to heal.
May the deep, deep delusion we are witnessing
serve to awaken more of us
to the reality we are living in.
May this day come to represent an irreparable crack
in the foundation of white supremacy this country.
May everyone be safe.
