Hello friend. I hope you and your loved ones are safe and well.
The Lead is still very much on hiatus, but I’m popping in to quickly share one update, one reminder and one request:
Update: The Lead will return after Labor Day with a new, streamlined format. And since it’ll be shorter, it may also be weekly instead of biweekly. We shall see. It’s slowly taking shape in the back of my mind, which quite honestly is where I’m trying to keep it. And that brings me to…
Reminder: These past two months I have said “no” or “not now” to everything I possibly and responsibly could. Moving slowly and with intention. Reclaiming a space within myself that is delicate, subtle and absolutely essential to the sustainability of my life and my work.
So I am offering you this reminder—in these final weeks of (northern hemisphere) summer—to take time and make space for, with and within yourself. Nothing is more important, including (especially!) the things that seem most urgent. Be ruthlessly generous and gentle with yourself. Everything depends upon this space.
Request: My team and I have proposed a workshop for SXSW 2022, and PanelPicker voting is now open:
Future-Proof Your Leadership
Leadership isn’t what it used to be. The challenges and crises teams face today require more than the technical skills most leaders have honed over their careers. Your technical skills serve you in familiar circumstances where you know what to do. When you are in a new situation where the challenges are complex and the solutions require new ways of working, thinking and connecting, you need to call upon your conceptual and relational skills: mindset, emotional intelligence, creativity and more. The question is: Can you cultivate conceptual and relational skills… and how? In this session, you’ll identify your areas of strength and room for growth in your leadership skillset and acquire simple tools for cultivating the conceptual and relational skills to balance out your technical expertise.
I’d very much appreciate your vote. (It will ask you to register, sorry about that.) If you’re so inclined, feel free to share this link with others who have a commitment to transformational leadership and also an internet connection. Thank you kindly.
Take good care.
