If you are in the process of becoming—whatever that means for you right now—this is what I want you to know...
It is imperative that you are gentle with yourself.
This is not the brittle taskmastering of achievement, judgment and penalty.
The work of opening requires kindness, generosity and acceptance.
It is vital that you let it be a process,
that you find space to exist in the mess, between the beginning and the end,
because you are already on the way and
because there is no end.
You must mind your inputs at least as much as your outputs.
What and how are you consuming? Who are your influences? Where is your attention being invested?
Everything comes back to this.
It will be harder than you think it is supposed to be.
There is nothing automatic here—this is world-changing work.
It will take effort before you find ease,
there will be pain before pleasure,
you will be exhausted and exhilarated,
each essential in equal measure.
Find or create or rely on a community of those who are in process too.
We cannot do this alone.
We'll never make it.
But we are far from alone.
If you are in the process of becoming,
I am with you.
We can do this.
Keep going.
