the coolness of water
in your mouth
the soft warmth of a beloved
animal or person or blanket
the scratch of gravel underfoot
every single solitary raindrop
and each breeze rustling the trees
they are all calling out to you
practically shouting now
begging you to remember
(and bask in)
your basic aliveness.
I won’t tell you not to forget, because you will.
But let’s make it our mission to remember.
